SAMANTHA KAINE
Founder and Executive Director, Independent Media Producers Association of Creative Talent (IMPACT)
Samantha Kaine is a Jamaican-Canadian, award-winning independent film and television creative producer, advocate, mentor and alumna of the prestigious Cineplex Entertainment Producers’ Lab Program at the Canadian Film Centre.
Samantha is the Founder and Executive Director of the Independent Media Producers Association of Creative Talent (IMPACT), a non-profit association created to combat systemic anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism, discrimination and the marginalization of Black, Indigenous, and People Of Colour producers and creators of all genders, sexual identities, and disabilities in the Canadian and Quebec Film, Television and Media industries. Samantha’s leadership in this area assures the necessary unification of voices to advocate for the fair, safe and equitable access to funding and equitable work environments.
Samantha has more than a decade of experience in the Canadian and Quebec Film, TV and Media Industries. As owner of Red11 Productions Inc, her producer credits include the award-winning short films Willing to Lie and The Women of Alpine Road. As a creative producer, Samantha developed, co-wrote and produced a six-part TV docu-series entitled: Offbeat Roads – The Danakil Diaries, a series that brought sixteen cyclists to the hottest place on Earth – The Danakil in Ethiopia. The series has been sold to numerous territories internationally, including France, Brazil, Hungary and Israel.
Samantha champions talent, innovation and excellence, advocating for proper and truthful representation on screen. Her passion includes working with marginalized and under-represented voices both in front of - and behind - the camera.
Continuing her critical work to dismantle systemic racism, Samantha sits on the Board of the Canadian Independent Screen Fund for Black and People of Colour and is also a vital voice as a member of Telefilms Diversity and Inclusion Working Group.
