Monique Perro

Business Agent
IATSE Local 856

Monique Perro is the Business Agent for IATSE Local 856, which represents the specialty artists and technicians who work in film and television production in Manitoba. She is responsible for safeguarding the members rights under the collective agreement and acts as a liaison between members and the film industry.

Monique also sits on the board of On Screen Manitoba and, along with other labour representatives, created the Manitoba Media Industry Working Group. The group meets on a regular basis to discuss on-set culture, training and skill development, and the growth and sustainability of the industry.

Monique began her career in the film and television industry with Buffalo Gal Pictures, where she contributed to script development, business affairs, and was an associate producer. Projects she worked on include Less Than Kind, My Winnipeg and All The Wrong Reasons.

Prior to joining IATSE, Monique spent seven years as the Film Liaison for the City of Winnipeg where she coordinated locations and supported productions with their permits and permissions. While with the City, Monique developed and delivered training for locations personnel to help them learn the best practices of preserving their filming locations.

She enjoys collaborating with others and she works closely with members of the film and television industry (both crew and supporting organizations) to enact positive change.
