Matt Eastman, TouchPoint (Whatever Linda), Steph Ouakine, Smokebomb Ent. (Carmilla), Benoît Beaudoin, TV5 Canada (Connexion en Cours)

This panel will explore three cases of Canadian web series: Whatever Linda adapted in the US for television, Carmilla has known a wide success as a branded-web series and Connexion en Cours, released on Facebook to reach a younger audience. The panelists will comment on the creation process, finding the right niche audience and discuss how web series can become flagship content.

Carmilla

Carmilla - Nicknamed Queer Buffy 2015, Carmilla is a scripted transmedia series that puts a modern spin on the cult classic gothic vampire novella by Sheridan Le Fanu.
Meshing the vlog format aesthetic with scripted storytelling, Carmilla has generated more than 34 million views and spawned a passionate, engaged, worldwide fandom who’ve called themselves “The Creampuffs,” or “The Tampon Fandom.” The 36-episode second season debuted on June 2nd on KindaTV and rolls out into October 2015. Told through the main character’s vlog, the story spans multiple mediums such as Twitter and Tumblr character feeds.

Carmilla is an action-adventure tale about modern feminism for the YouTube age.

Whatever, Linda

Whatever, Linda is a darkly comic digital series produced by Emmy-winning studio Secret Location in partnership with Touchpoint Films. It is currently being developed for TV by the Mark Gordon Company in LA.
