ANGELA HECK

Director, Digital & Strategic Initiatives
National Screen Institute - Canada

Currently working at the National  Screen Institute to develop, mentor and expand digital media programs, Angela’s past work includes roles at Tactica InteractiveCBC, Whistler Film Festival, University of Manitoba, Quest University and the National Film Board of Canada.

As a documentary producer she has worked extensively in the adventure realm, with productions heading up mountains in Tibet and British Columbia and on the sea in Antarctica when she co-produced for the series The Explorer’s Club with FlorianFilm (ZDF/arte), the Canada/US co-venture Soul of the Sea (Blue Ant). Recent work includes producing the short docs Declutter and the upcoming Fourth Period Burnout both created and directed by Madison Thomas for CBC Short Docs digital platform.

She started working in film as an actor with directors Guy Maddin (Tales from the Gimli Hospital) and John Paizs (The Big Crime Wave).

She is vice-chair of Jazz Winnipeg and a former board member of WIFTV, DOC-BC and the University of Manitoba.
